Evaluation and Management Code Updates

The American Medical Association (AMA) has created new Evaluation and Management (E/M) coding guidelines, effective 1/1/2021. In alignment with the AMA, VSP will implement the following changes:

• Deletion of code 99201 and revision of codes 99202–99215
• Code level selection should be based on medical decision-making (MDM) or total time spent by the provider on the date of the encounter
