Provider Hub News > Vision Care News > Healthy Vision Month: A Focus on Diabetes
With VSP® members four times more likely to visit their eye doctor than their primary care doctor, you’re well poised to have a significant impact on your patients overall health.2 To help illustrate the pivotal role of eye care in the connection to overall healthcare, encourage your patients to take the 60-Second Type 2 Diabetes Risk Test from the American Diabetes Association® to better understand their risk for prediabetes and diabetes.
Patients can access the online risk test at vsp.com/risktest or you can download a copy to share in your practice.
Take these courses, offered by VSP Premier Edge™ Training and Education, to earn points towards your American Diabetes Association (ADA) badge and help increase visibility for your VSP Find a Doctor Directory listing on vsp.com. Visit premieredgetraining.com to learn more.
In addition, you can receive a $5 patient condition payment3 when you submit an eligible VSP WellVision Exam® claim. To receive the payment, indicate the patient has diabetes or diabetic retinopathy on the patient condition checkbox in eClaim on eyefinity.com or include the appropriate diagnosis code, AND include the appropriate diabetic eye exam CPT Category II code. Download this reference sheet or refer to the VSP Provider Reference Manual for details.
You can find even more resources for your practice to support your patients living with diabetes or at risk for prediabetes during Healthy Vision Month and beyond at vspeyeondiabetes.com.
