Supporting Students’ Education and Futures through VSP Eyes of Hope

|

Clear, healthy vision does more than help students see—it empowers understanding and learning. However, many students don’t have access to eye care in their communities, creating barriers to their learning in school.

To help ease these barriers, VSP® Eyes of Hope® mobile clinics bring free vision care where it’s needed most. Each mobile eye care clinic is outfitted with an eye exam room and portable exam equipment for a local volunteer doctor to provide comprehensive eye exams, an eyewear dispensary stocked with popular Marchon and Altair Eyewear frame brands, and an optical finishing lab.

Partnerships with eye doctors and optometric organizations make this care possible. Recently, an Eyes of Hope mobile clinic was deployed to support the Virginia Optometric Association (VOA) in delivering vision care to Richmond Public School students. During the school district’s “High School Wellness Day” on May 14, high school students received free eye exams and glasses to support their education and prepare them for their futures. More than 100 students received access to essential no-cost vision care with the help of 19 incredible volunteer doctors.

To date, more than 4.5 million people in need have gained access to no-cost eye care and eyewear through VSP Eyes of Hope. To learn more about how to get involved with mobile clinics or other charitable opportunities, visit the Eyes of Hope page on the VSP Provider Hub.
