Courses included during the event:
New! Diabetes, Nutrition, and Eye Health: A Guide for Eye Health Professionals (One hour of CE credit)
Evidence-based nutrition information and clinical guidance are vitally important tools that foster improved health outcomes for people living with diabetes. Presented by Susan Weiner, MS, RDN, CDN, CDCES, FADCES, this course will discuss how to translate evidence-based nutrition guidelines into practice across all communities. You’ll be provided with nutritional eating pattern information about the benefits of medical nutrition therapy, strategies to educate patients on nutrition, and information on nutrient-rich foods to promote eye health.
New! Billing & Coding: Approaching the Diabetic Eye Exam (One hour of CE credit)
Approaching the diabetic eye exam is an area of billing and coding that causes a challenge for eye care teams. There is often confusion on how best to handle diabetic services when a patient has both vision and medical coverage. This presentation offers clarification on the elements impacting both the patient and the practice, including outlining a clear path for patient education, and billing and coding practices, while ensuring you receive credit for the care you provide.
Essential Medical Eye Care
Presented by Brittany Howell, VSP Senior Product Manager, this course provides an overview of how VSP streamlined its supplemental medical eye care coverage by creating a single plan, simplifying billing, and increasing availability by making it standard coverage for most VSP patients. You’ll also learn how you can leverage this plan to maximize VSP benefits for your patients with diabetes and other medical eye care needs.
