This course will consider the latest evidence for prevention of diabetes and diabetic retinopathy, including key considerations for COVID-19 risk in patients with diabetes and practical management strategies for optometrists. Course was developed by the American Diabetes Association and is presented by Sherrol Reynolds, OD, FAAO; Tina Mac Donald, OD, CDCES, FAAO; and John Cain, MSPAS, PA-C. 

Part 1 – Exploring the Connections of Diabetes and Eye Health
Part 2 – Advancements in the Treatment of Diabetes and Its Ocular Sequelae
Part 3 – Treating the Whole Person

This new, one-hour course builds off the topics covered in the previous “Focus on Diabetes: An Overview of Diabetes for Optometrists” course. This new course takes a closer look at the connections between diabetes and eye health and the complementary roles of healthcare and eye care professionals within the larger interdisciplinary diabetes care team. Complete the post-course evaluation from the American Diabetes Association to earn one-hour of COPE-approved CE.
