From Infants to Elders: Building a Family Eye Care Legacy in Arkansas

| |

At Focused Family Eye Care, our philosophy has always been simple: treat every patient like family. That mindset has shaped every decision we’ve made over the past ten years—and it’s the reason we’ve never spent a dime on advertising. Word of mouth has been our lifeline, and I believe that’s because we’ve stayed true to one core belief: you’re only as good as the last patient you saw.

Caring for Every Generation, Every Day
Our name says it all—Focused Family Eye Care. We’re here for everyone, from infants to centenarians. Some days, I’ll start with an infant eye exam and end with a 95-year-old cataract patient. We manage everything from macular degeneration to post-op care, and we’re proud to be part of our patients’ lives at every stage.

Children’s vision, in particular, is something I’m deeply passionate about. When kids start school, 80% of what they learn is visual. I’ve seen firsthand how a simple eye exam can change a child’s life. One young patient was thought to have ADHD, but the real issue? He just couldn’t see. That moment reminded me why early eye care is so critical.

And it’s not just about kids or seniors—everyone benefits from regular eye exams. We tell our patients that annual eye exams are just as important as annual physicals. The eyes are a window to the rest of the body, and we’ve caught everything from diabetes to high blood pressure during routine visits. It’s about total health, not just 20/20 vision.

VSP and Premier Edge: Partners in Our Growth
We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have VSP as a partner. VSP has played a very integral role in helping private practices, not only in Arkansas but all across the country. They’ve supported us with everything from increasing patient flow to providing consultation, education, and products patients love and we stand behind. That kind of support has been instrumental in helping us grow.

Joining VSP Premier Edge has taken things even further. It’s given us more tools to serve our patients and added value that they genuinely appreciate. It’s not just about perks—it’s about enhancing the care experience and making sure our patients feel the difference.

Looking Ahead
Optometry is evolving quickly, and I believe we’re going to be even more essential in the next 20 years than we were in the last. Technology is advancing, but the human connection—that’s what will always set private practices apart.
