Promote a grand opening like a marketing pro

7 tips to successfully promote a grand opening:

Set your website live a month before you open. Having an online presence is important in the beginning stages of starting a business. Potential patients will look for a website they can visit to learn more about your practice. Also, update your practice’s VSP Find a Doctor, Yelp, and Google My Business hours and services accordingly. Claim your Yelp and Google My Business listing and optimize with photos, etc.

Check-out the competition. Research online how other practices in your area are sharing their grand opening details. Every practice will have unique updates, but it will be helpful to see what other offices are doing with their digital or print marketing strategies. We also suggest contacting your optometrist colleagues to ask how they are promoting. This will give your practice the opportunity to differentiate yourselves from others and make your individual marketing efforts stand out.

Introduce your practice. Meet with local organizations and build neighborhood connections. Look at securing a booth at a farmers’ market or community event to promote your new practice.

Connect with the community. Hold virtual meetings with local organizations or build on existing neighborhood connections to unify and cross-promote your practice while helping theirs. Consider highlighting another local small business once a week on your social media or promote them within your practice through giveaways or co-branded signage.

Post on social. Post a count down before doors open on social media to generate buzz. Follow and interact with local businesses in your area on social media. Share that you are opening a new practice and look for ways to partner. Invite followers and local businesses to your grand opening.

Make it a party. Pass out flyers and announce on social media that you are hosting a grand opening for your practice. On the day of opening, pass out beverages and small bites to make the experience welcoming. Showcase the frames you have in office on social media and to visitors checking out the new business.

Film a "meet the staff" video series. Introduce staff members and humanize your practice on social media. Have staff members share fun facts about themselves and what they do at your practice. This can help encourage consistent and engaging content early on. Encourage your staff members to share the videos on their own social media and tag your practice.
