Promote American Diabetes Alert Day to Your Patients

The prevalence of diabetes and prediabetes is astounding, and you likely see its impact in your patients all the time. 88 million people in the US have prediabetes and more than 84% of these individuals are unaware.1 This presents a tremendous opportunity for VSP network doctors to have an impact and help slow the prevalence of prediabetes and the progression to type 2 diabetes through early detection. 

Tuesday, March 23, is Diabetes Alert Day and is a great time to share with your patients the connection between eye health and overall health, especially with your patients living with, or at risk for diabetes. 

This Eye Disease Simulator and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Diabetes Risk Test are resources to share with your patients to help them know their risk for type 2 diabetes and see how the disease can change their vision. Promote these tools with your patients and encourage them to schedule an eye exam.
